Podcasts & Newsletters
I always have something playing. Commutes, walks, cooking, late nights. Podcasts and newsletters replaced most of my social media consumption and I'm better for it.
I tend to run wide: business, finance, news, politics, tech, product management. When life gets busy, I narrow down to just what I can control. But this is the full rotation.
The Regulars
These are always in rotation. I rarely skip an episode.
The Best One Yet (TBOY)
Nick & Jack Studios
My most-listened podcast. Quick daily hits on business and market news. They make finance entertaining without dumbing it down. Perfect for commutes.
All-In Podcast
Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg
Four investors arguing about everything from AI to geopolitics. The chemistry is genuine and they're not afraid to disagree. Best when they go deep on tech trends.
Lenny's Podcast
Lenny Rachitsky
The best product management podcast. Period. Deep interviews with people actually building products, not just talking about building products. Essential listening for PMs.
Blocked and Reported
Katie Herzog & Jesse Singal
Covers internet culture, media controversies, and the stories behind the outrage cycles. Funny, well-researched, and willing to go where most journalists won't.
The Tim Ferriss Show
Tim Ferriss
Long-form interviews with world-class performers across every field. Some episodes are life-changing, some are skippable. The good ones are really good.
Huberman Lab
Andrew Huberman
Deep science-based episodes on sleep, focus, nutrition, exercise, and how your brain actually works. Dense but actionable. The optimal morning routine episode alone changed how I start my day.
Also in the Rotation
Listen regularly but not religiously. Depends on the topic or guest.
Honestly with Bari Weiss
Bari Weiss / The Free Press
Independent journalism that doesn't fit neatly into left or right. Good for understanding issues from angles you won't get from mainstream outlets.
Left, Right & Center
KCRW
A genuine attempt to get perspectives from across the political spectrum on the same issues. Refreshing when most political media is just echo chambers.
Global News Podcast
BBC World Service
Quick international news briefing. Useful for getting outside the US-centric news bubble. I listen when I want to know what's happening beyond our borders.
Newsletters
Curated content that shows up in my inbox. No algorithm, no feed. Just someone who did the work of finding what's interesting so I don't have to.
Morning Brew
Daily business news that's actually readable. Gets you up to speed on markets, tech, and business in 5 minutes without feeling like homework.
Tech Brew
The tech-focused sibling of Morning Brew. Tighter lens on what's happening in the tech industry specifically.
Lenny's Newsletter
The companion to the podcast. Deep, actionable product management insights. If you're a PM and you're not reading this, you're missing out.
3-2-1 Thursday by James Clear
3 ideas, 2 quotes, 1 question. Short, thoughtful, and the kind of thing that snaps you out of autopilot for a few minutes. Good antidote to the AI slop that's flooding every other inbox.
Why Podcasts Over Social Media
I've largely replaced social media scrolling with podcasts and newsletters. They go deep, they don't interrupt themselves with algorithmic distractions, and they respect my focus.
A podcast episode is a choice. I pick the topic, I pick the length, and I get the full thought instead of a 15-second clip optimized for engagement. It scratches the "I want to learn something" itch without the attention tax that comes with a feed.
Always looking for recommendations. If you listen to something great, let me know.
